A doctor who chose people over paperwork

Before there was Blue Skies Wellness DPC, there was a doctor who got tired of watching a broken system get between her and the people she became a physician to help. This is her story, and why Aquidneck Island is where she chose to start over.

A doctor who chose people over paperwork

Before there was Blue Skies Wellness DPC, there was a doctor who got tired of watching a broken system get between her and the people she became a physician to help. This is her story, and why Aquidneck Island is where she chose to start over.

A system that stopped making room for people

Dr. Amy Wright spent years watching the American healthcare system move in the wrong direction. Appointments getting shorter. Waitlists growing longer. The relationship between doctor and patient, the critical piece that makes your healthcare actually work, getting buried under prior authorizations and billing codes.

She decided to do something about it.

Before founding Blue Skies Wellness DPC, Dr. Wright served in the United States Air Force, where she learned what it means to show up fully for the people depending on you. She took part in combat missions in Iraq, building a kind of trust and developing communication skills that have shaped her outlook toward healthcare ever since. You can't phone it in. You need to engage with your patients, actively listen to them, and then act on their behalf.

"You can't phone it in. You need to engage with your patients, actively listen to them, and then act on their behalf."

Dr. Amy Wright, Founder, Blue Skies Wellness DPC

That same ethos drives everything at Blue Skies Wellness DPC. Dr. Wright chose the Direct Patient Care model specifically because it gives her the time and freedom to practice medicine the way she believes it should be practiced, without a clipboard full of insurance requirements telling her what her patients deserve.

"Here, healthcare is personal, relaxed, and built on real relationships, so you never feel rushed or like you're just a number. I'm looking forward to getting to know you, hearing your story, and working together to help you feel your best."

A community practice, built by a neighbor

When she's not seeing patients, Dr. Wright is a mother of triplets and a polo player who genuinely loves where she lives.

She's not building a clinic. She's building a community practice, one patient relationship at a time, right here on Aquidneck Island.
